Yacht Underwriter Location Remote : This position is responsible for the critical review of the insured's boating experience and exercising detailed knowledge of insurance coverage(s) in the underwriting of new and renewal business in compliance with underwriting guidelines and lines of authority. This position is responsible for declining unacceptable risks and drafting new business and renewal insurance proposals to the account's broker, negotiating the renewal of the account, binding accounts and completing all supporting underwriting documentation for the account as well as preparing detailed issuance instructions. Overall, this position is responsible for managing, developing and maintaining the broker relationships for their assigned territory. As such, the Underwriter is responsible for all production for the territory, including those underwritten by the underwriting technicians. This position will be given a specific grant of authority provided by the Program Manager. Your Impact:
- Initiating and maintaining working broker relationships
- Underwrite new yacht business by reviewing, evaluating and rating the risk, adhering to all underwriting guidelines and standards; ensuring submissions are processed within defined time tables.
- Underwrite renewal business referred by the renewal underwriter adhering to underwriting/rate guidelines, lines of authority, legal mandates and the insurer's underwriting guidelines.
- Ability to utilize critical thinking and attention to detail to analyze policy files to determine pricing/rate strategy (based on an analysis of the account's loss rations, appropriateness for retention, current pricing and deductibles compared to current rate structures, profitability, underwriting constraints, analyzing loss control surveys and insured's commitment to compliance) as well as the account's fit with underwriting guidelines and the agency's lines of authority
- Documentation of underwriting decision encompassing the above, as well as detailed account information by policy as well as type of risk and determining pricing strategy to enhance the account's potential for profitability.
- Respond to any broker questions or concerns that arise during the renewal or new business process within defined time tables.
- Advise Manager of any trends, issues or concerns relative to the underwriting process or the team's book of business
Successful Candidates Will Have: - Bachelor's degree preferred, will consider industry experience in lieu of education
- 3-5 years personal lines underwriting experience required; experience with boats/yachts is preferred.
- P&C insurance license preferred.
- Must be proficient with MS Office Suite, with focus on Outlook, Teams and Excel
- Must have strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills

The total compensation for a position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. The expected base pay range for this position is between $70,000 - $90,000 + bonus. The actual base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including geographical location, education, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
