Position: School Age Teacher's Assistant
Pay Rate: $17.00 - $20.00/hour
Location: East Gate Kids Early Learning Center

Job Summary:
We are looking for a caring and enthusiastic School Age Teacher's Assistant to join our afternoon team! This position supports our after-school programming for children ages 5-12 by helping to create a safe, fun, and enriching environment. The ideal candidate will be dependable, flexible, and excited to work with older children in both structured and play-based settings.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the lead teacher in planning and supervising engaging activities for school-age children.
• Assist with homework support, arts and crafts, games, and outdoor play.
• Build positive, respectful relationships with children, families, and coworkers.
• Drive the center van to pick up children from local elementary schools (valid license required).
• Supervise transitions such as school pickups, snack time, and free play.
• Promote positive behavior and social skills in alignment with center expectations.
• Maintain a safe and organized classroom and play environment.
• Follow all health, safety, and licensing regulations.
• Communicate effectively with team members and contribute to a collaborative environment.
• Assist with cleanup and end-of-day routines.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework or degree in education or child development preferred.
• Experience working with school-age children in a childcare or educational setting required.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record (required for van driving).
• Strong communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and actively engage in play and supervision.
• Must pass a background check and meet state childcare licensing requirements.

Schedule Options:

• Full-Time: 9:00am - 6:00pm
  • Support in younger classrooms until 2:00pm, then transition to school-age program.
• Part-Time: 12:00pm - 6:00pm
  • Ideal for mid-day availability and van driving support.
• Part-Time: 2:00pm - 6:00pm
  • Perfect for students or those seeking a shorter afternoon shift.
