The United Soccer League (USL) is the heartbeat of American soccer. Impacting more than 200 communities across the United States, the USL is the first and only soccer organization in the United States to build a youth-to-professional pathway for both men and women within one ecosystem. That structure includes three professional leagues: Gainbridge Super League (women), USL Championship (men), and USL League One (men); two pre-professional leagues: USL League Two (men) and the USL W League (women); and two youth platforms: USL Academy and USL Youth.

Position Purpose

The United Soccer League (USL) is seeking a Digital Content Manager to support the league’s men’s pathway, specifically focused on the USL Championship and League One. This role produces, edits, and publishes digital content across league platforms while serving as a key communications partner to member clubs. The ideal candidate is an experienced digital creator and editor who thrives in a fast-paced environment, understands professional soccer operations, and can balance real-time coverage with proactive content planning.

Duties and Responsibilities
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

• Write, edit, and publish digital content including league news and club announcements, and match coverage across USL-owned platforms, including the USL Championship and League One websites.
• Serve as a day-to-day communications contact for men’s pathway clubs, ensuring accurate, consistent league messaging.
• Coordinate with clubs on news and announcements including player transactions and league initiatives.
• Publish and manage press releases and official communications across digital channels.
• Collaborate with Communications, Social Media, and Creative teams to align content with league priorities and maximize engagement.
• Optimize content for SEO, discoverability, and audience engagement.
• Maintain and update website pages for accuracy and relevance.
• Assist with multimedia content creation, including social content
• Provide coverage support for matches and league events as needed.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in digital content, editorial, or communications, preferably in professional sports.
• Strong writing and editing skills with a league-focused editorial voice.
• Experience managing content in CMS platforms and working with digital publishing workflows.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-moving environment.
• Strong knowledge of men’s professional soccer in North America; familiarity with USL strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with digital/social platforms like TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram as a plus.
• Comfortable working nights, weekends, and league events as required.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, including evenings and weekends.
• Must have U.S. work authorization.

Work Environment

Based in Tampa, FL, USL Headquarters provides a vibrant and open working environment designed to promote collaboration, the exchange of ideas, and knowledge sharing. We believe in fostering a culture that encourages creativity, communication, and teamwork. 

Currently, USL HQ operates on a hybrid work model. From Monday to Thursday, team members gather in person to harness the power of face-to-face collaboration. This not only strengthens the bonds within the team but also enhances communication and innovation. On Fridays, we transition to a remote work setup, providing our team with the flexibility to manage their tasks in an environment of their choosing.

Typical USL HQ hours are Monday – Friday 8:30am – 5:30pm ET. Evenings, weekends, occasional holidays, and travel may be necessary based on business demands.
